“The grape didn’t fall far from the vine.”
At Dalvino, we take pride in our Italian heritage and continue that passion into the handcrafted wines we produce. Charlie Dalpiaz has been learning the art of making hand-crafted wine since the early 1950s.
Before discovering his own passion for wine, Charlie has fond memories from his childhood of his grandfather, Camillo Dalpiaz, making wine in the cellar of their home in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania; a thriving coal town for young Italian immigrants in the early 1900s.
“I remember as a young boy in the 50’s walking into my grandfather’s (Camillo’s) cellar and seeing his wine fermenting in oak barrels. At that time I fell in love with winemaking. Charlie reflects on the memories of his childhood that inspired the creation of Dalvino Wine Company.
Today, Dalvino Wine Company sits on The Dalpiaz Estate, 25 acres of rolling farmland and beautiful forests located in Snydertown, Pennsylvania, just outside of Sunbury, Pennsylvania.
Over the years Charlie’s process has evolved with his son Niccolo Dalpiaz. Just like, Camillo, Charlie started making wine in his cellar when his son was only 2 years-old. Fast forward 25 years to today and Nicco is currently pursuing his Enology and Viticulture degree.
Both Charlie and Nicco have come full circle from where they started; further solidifying their passion for the art of winemaking. Over the years, his son Nicco became immersed in his father’s hobby of winemaking, which became his passion as well. Today, Nicco is our winemaker. The grape didn’t fall far from the vine!
This father-son duo has evolved from their home wine cellar to their 1200 sq. ft. production and retail Micro-Winery located adjacent to the Dalpiaz homestead.
The Micro-Winery features a rustic theme that ties into the landscape of the Dalpiaz Estate. Inside you will find a custom live edge tasting bar, rustic concrete countertops, and our exclusive Tap Wine system featuring the Dalvino Gallone Growler™.
